Allow "guest" to view read-only access

Hi All,
I changed the permission to my site's download dir/page/category so that a guest may view but only have read-only access.  I was thinking that this would cause the guest to have to join my site to download.  But it still allows them to download.

Are the permissions inheritable?

Do I have to change the permissions in the sub-categories?

Is/are there different permissions I have to over-ride in order to allow a guest to view the names/descriptions of downloads, but not be able to download the actual files until they join/login to my site?

Will there be any issues when I get the facebook login working?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Larry, someone else may chime in with more info, but depending on how you set up permission when you ran the setup wizard it is very possible to block the download of a file from your downloads you may possibly have to set the permissions on that sub-category and maybe even the download it self.  If you chose during setup to allow permission per page or screen then this is possibly the case.

Hi chipster,

I finallyy found the hiarchey of permission and that I need to set on a subcategory level.  You are correct.  For my needs this works best.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
