Before upgrading I had about 20 guests online at any one time in different areas of the site. Several of those guests were spiders (mainly Google) working the site. Since the upgrade to v8 I'm seeing only one guest online at a time. It seems all my guests are now appearing under the same IP. I think this is why I had such a difficult time last week banning a particular IP that belonged to a spammer. The spammer's IP just happened to be the one that was showing in the online list, but by the time I discovered it, the spammer had already moved on and every guest at that time was also appearing under that spammer's IP making it look like the spammer was still busy with my site. The IP that is appearing now in the online user list last appeared in my access logs almost 20 hours ago. Right now, the way the guests are appearing, it renders spammer detection half useless.

Same here. I'm not sure at which upgrade (8.0.0 or 8.0.1) this popped up since those upgrades happened back to back within a few hours of each other.

It will be nice when this gets rolled into an official release as it was a fairly involved issue which touched a surprising number of files. Bob |

Only ONE guest being identified, and only ONE location being shown. v8.0.1
Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Update: It appears at least some guest IP's are getting caught by the spam detector. I wish I could see which areas they are in when they trigger the ban. I suspect its when they hit the login or join screens since that is what they need to do first to ply their trade.

Same here. I was keeping an eye on this and thought maybe some cache build up needing regenerating to restart the stats?

I think disabling the "Enforce IP addresses for sessions" option relaxed session-recycling rules on the Guest account, when it should have only been for member accounts. If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |

Sometimes you don't realize just how much you miss something or rely on it until it's gone or broken. Thanks, Chris!
