The "bug" turned out to be operator error.

Catalog "entry expiry" option missing field to enter amount of time.

I believe this started in either November or December as there were entries created in November that should have expired and moved out in December, but are still sitting there. Entries created prior to that have expired properly.

This indicates you don't have CRON running (anymore). ocPortal will not put CRON-dependent features in when it's seen it has not run recently.

The expiry move-target is shown there because our non-bundled classifieds addon uses this as an archive spot for listings that are no longer active.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks, Chris, for the reminder! That was when I moved everything over to the new sever and I guess I forgot to set up CRON for that domain.  :$   Started up CRON and the expiry feature is once again working as it should.

Off to figure out a new glitch in one of the catalogs…
