Moving forward with Composr

ocPortal has been relaunched as Composr CMS, which is now in beta. ocPortal 9 will be superseded by Composr 10.

Head over to compo.sr for our new site, and to our migration roadmap. Existing ocPortal member accounts have been mirrored.

... is this a bug or a feature?

Today it was the first time i closed a thread.
But the members continue the thread by editing their old posts.
Is this realy the intended behaviour of closed threads?

Interesting, I don't think this has ever been considered. Added to tracker 0000859: No post editing in closed topics - ocPortal feature tracker

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

lol if there is some loophole for users to get around an intended rule of a site they will find it! It's a shame users just can't accept the intentions of site administrators without finding a way to cheat.

You can make the following changes to \forum\pages\mudule\topicview.php. That should keep them at bay until an official solution is available.

To disable delete button, change:

Code

if (array_key_exists('may_delete',$_postdetails))
To:

Code

if (array_key_exists('may_delete',$_postdetails) && $may_reply)

To disable edit button, change:

Code

if (array_key_exists('may_edit',$_postdetails))
To:

Code

if (array_key_exists('may_edit',$_postdetails) && $may_reply)

To disable amend button, change:

Code

elseif (((is_null($forum_id)) || (has_specific_permission(get_member(),'submit_lowrange_content','topics',array('forums',$forum_id)))) && ($topic_info['last_poster']==get_member()) && (!is_guest()) && (ocf_may_edit_post_by(get_member(),$forum_id)))
To:

Code

elseif (((is_null($forum_id)) || (has_specific_permission(get_member(),'submit_lowrange_content','topics',array('forums',$forum_id)))) && ($topic_info['last_poster']==get_member()) && (!is_guest()) && (ocf_may_edit_post_by(get_member(),$forum_id)) && $may_reply)
