Being a newbie (maybe that's why I didn't find anything when I did a search through the forums haha), I was looking for a way to use ocPortal for a closed network of users.

I noticed that the site has a default notice that says "This site is currently closed because it is still being created." Which is great until it goes live. When I make it live I have about 20 users that I want to have access to it without the possibility of other users joining unless I make their account for them, or they register by invitation. Is this possible? :o

I didn't see any docs on it, I did find the following support info though:

http://ocportal.com/docs/tut_permissions.htm

http://ocportal.com/docs9/tut_members.htm

Thanks for the help!

Hi, The answer on your question is YES ocPortal can do that. Its all a permission settings and using member groups with special rights. You can do it with everything you want.

Welcome by the way..

Harry

Well-settled

There is a specific permission to allow a group access to a closed site.
So this is easily possible with a little configuring

Also... how do I give points to you? looked through your profile pages and didn't find where I could do that. Thanks.

If you have give point, look in the users profile, tab points and scroll down. There you can give some points to the person. :)

What you can do, make some special usergroups, bind the user to this group. Now give only that group acces to a zone or page you like with some rights to view or add/remove things.

I use this way.

Just to further answer the question on gift points there is a button right here on the forum posts at the bottom of the users posts that says points. if you click it takes you to the apprariate plae to gift points to that user.
(it sort of greyed out next to "quote")
