Doing the file integrity check step of the upgrade produced many missing files, mostly dealing with downloads. I copied over all these missing files and ran the check again - none missing.

Trying to view the site I get this…

Expand: Critical error - bailing out Critical error - bailing out

Before I got those bail outs, and while I was still able to see the "closed site" screen, I clicked the login link and got this message on the login screen I've never seen before…

I logged in and received those error messages above.

I'm cancelling this as I decided to do a clean install, but I'm leaving the post intact in case Chris wants to view the critical error.

Missing files might have been caused by the downloads addon being uninstalled, then the sources/hooks/systems/addon_registry/downloads.php file coming back somehow; it would then notice other download addon files were missing.

This would have been an old sources/site2.php, as we changed the interface between that and sources/site.php slightly; they'd need to be from the same version.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Could a failed upgrade cause the db to be somehow "stuck" between 9.0.5 and 9.08? (Not sure what happens to the db during an upgrade.)

I might be a little incoherent with my thoughts after being up for 22 hours.

Nothing to do with the DB, just the PHP files.

Please post the exact and full message in a new topic. "Critical error - bailing out" is just the heading.
