Down time Blues!

In previous versions of <8.x.x, the indication is:

but in version 9.0.1 …

… which kind of screws up the use of the Adminzone!

Critical error - bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occurred during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occurred before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.
Cannot connect to the server in the URL, http://ocportal.com/uploads/website_specific/ocportal.com/scripts/addon_manifest.php?version=9.00&addon_0=ocf_contactmember&addon_1=ocf_multi_moderations&addon_2=ocf_warnings&addon_3=zone_logos; the "php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known" error was received. (version: 9.0.1, PHP version: 5.2.17, URL: /nine/adminzone/index.php?page=start&keep_fatalistic=1)

Well-settled

In my case the error (during the main ocPortal site was down) was :

"An error has occurred

Cannot connect to the server in the URL, http://ocportal.com/uploads/website_specific/ocportal.com/scripts/addon_manifest.php?version=9.00&addon_0=quizzes; the "Connection timed out" error was received."

Thanks, we'll resolve this.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I thought that it was related to the godaddy.com outage. The site (ocportal.com) was inaccessible for a couple of hours yesterday.

Take another look at my initial post. It wasn't a complaint abut the down time.

It was a complaint that when ocPortal is down RSS feeds refuse to allow the 'receiving' site's Adminzone to function, because it siezes up with an error message.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Fletch is that because you are using V9+?

The reason I ask is all it did was slow my site down, including the admin zone. I am still using 8.1.4.

Yes, the behaviour is version 9-specific, as my screencaps show and as Mitrax confirmed!

I think Chris has a handle on this …!
