tabbed forum display

hi there i would like a way to organise forums using tabs as i have a large forum making subforum hundreds of them just dont seem viable to do so i have around 100 forums i need to add for different topics either i used 100's of subforums or make it so a user scrolls half way down the page if i had the abilty to use tabs as a catergory this would be great as i have searched and searched and aint found nothing that could help me here and no clue how to edit portal i also tried installing vbulletin 4.1.3 but it cuased loads of errors as with vb i know i can organise forum in a great and simple way

That would be an interesting approach to this issue for sure. I am not familiar enough with the system yet to provide you accurate concrete direction but Iwould assume something like this could be made possible in several ways.

1st not knowing exactly how the  forums are spit out yet I would think you may get lucky and need only modify some view files since this is an MVC pattern, however, I am doubting it but, you never know. Most likely you'd need to modify some code logic first. However, another way I was thinking might work without having to modify as much code logic (at least to a difficult degree) would be to create you own landing page for forum root with your tabbed categories that then lead to the actually categories of the real forum from there. Not a simple answer either but probably much simpler than delving in and disecting original code. Just a thought.  Lastly, You could also just ask for a quote from the developers how much to implememnt this kind of feature for you? Maybe even shop around to other users to see if they want to chip in who knows?
