I'm trying to set up the Facebook login/syndication on a new website that I'm running OCPortal on.

On a previous website I made a few years ago, I managed to create it without any problems. But it seems that Facebook Dev. has made some changes to how the app is made, and now I'm completely confused.

Could someone guide me on how to get a working app with the new setup?

I would appreciate it very much! Thank you :)

I haven't looked into doing this. However, but I did a write up on how to incorporate Google Custom Search Engine, which is basically code from elsewhere. Perhaps this method could work for you (where you get the Google CSE code, you instead get the FB code).

Here's the post:

Adding GCSE - My experience (GCSE Google's Custom Search Engine)

My apologies if this isn't suitable/adaptable.

Regards, Mike.

I've just had a quick play. I went to FaceBook Developer's (after searching for incorporating facebook into website). Followed a link and found something about a Like Box.

Anyway followed what I posted (copied the two code snippets into a file call fb.htm into ????????/pages/html_custom/EN (where ???????? is the zone I created for such things).
Added the now existent/recognised page to the menu and hey presto it appeared.

I tried changing it to my facebook url but it didn't display anything. That could be due to my settings (it appeared to try to do something and didn't fail). I'm not the most avid FB user, In fact I rarely use it. OK just found this "Note that the Like Box widget is supported only on Facebook public pages and doesn't work on personal pages."

The above is only a summary and you should refer to the previous post for more a detailed guide.

I do understand that this is very likely not what you want. However, basically the technique appears to be pretty good. It's just a matter of getting that code.

Regards, Mike.

I understood this was available already in OCPortal. All of the standard code plugins available from FB seem to work. ie like a site, send a news item or forum post directly to FB and decide on your time line or a page you manage… Mike / Chris has that currently working on The Layperson's Guide to Australian Family Law - Family Law Web Guide.. We thought about logging on with FB accounts but why bother especially as the sign up is easy, you can provide splash page and other messages on sign up etc.
