I am brand new to ocPortal and could use a bit of help. I am looking for an addon or mod to add a classified ad section and a cookbook or recipe section to a new ocportal site - anyone know if these addons are available or where I might find tips on out how to do this? Thanks |

It's not an addon but you should Check out the tut on "Custom structured content (via catalogues)" ocPortal Tutorial: Custom structured content (via catalogues) - ocPortal which goes into a classified adds use of the catalogues module.

I don't know much about custom modules for Recipe's, but I'm sure, with a bit of pre-planning, you could knock together a passable Recipe Catalogue. Sorting alphabetically isn't a problem either, but if you want the recipes subdivided into say, 'Starters', 'Main Dish', 'Desserts', then you'd need to build identical catalogues for each type. There are other pitfalls that I can forsee, for example further subdivision of 'Main Dish' into Veg, Fish, Meat, etc. may take a bit of head scratching, and since I haven't actually tried that, I can't offer a solution off the top of my head. Perhaps somebody else has done something similar and can chip in with advice. The basic structure of your recipes can be pre-formatted into something like:
Does that work for you?
Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I have had some of the same issues dealing with my art site. I have just set up appropriate fields in the catalog and made sure to set the "searchable" setting for the field. Additionally, I have made prodigious use of keywords, even repeating certain fields in my keywords where they become part of the tag cloud. Bob |

Just figured that if the project had been done already I would not have to reinvent the wheel. I will take a look at that tutorial for a starting point. thanks again |
