Opens fine on my computer, but you're not really supposed to even have to untar addons manually – ocPortal can install them directly.

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Well-settled

I was untarring it locally (Kubuntu 11.10) just to see what was in it. I did transfer the tar file to the server (probably something close to Red Hat) and the installer seemed to be OK with it. But, when I attempted to add the block I got the following message (on preview):
A block file is missing: side_language (sources/blocks/side_language.php or an overridden equivalent to this path)

There certainly is no such file and no such file shows up in the TOC from tar.

Ah, that block is actually a standard one, in bundled 'language_block' addon.
