I installed the Facebook add on, went through the instructions, created my app, allowed permissions, entered my app id, app secret, and FB id, and everything reports good to go.  However when I went and posted a news article it's not posting to my FB Wall.  Any idea's?

By "FB id" do you mean the numeric user ID of your Facebook account?

Yes Chris.  Should've been clearer to begin with.  By all means I was reffering to my numeric profile id.  However, seems that my problem runs deeper.  See my last post in the Deploying board.  I'm getting an error that I wasn't seeing with my screen reader at first.  When I logged out and then try to log in using my fb cridentals, or my normal site cridentals for that matter I'm getting the message:

Code

An unknown authentication scheme was found in the database against your member. Unfortunately
we cannot authenticate you. If your account is tied to a third party service maybe
you just need to use a different login button.

Once you've logged in with Facebook on top of an existing account it needs to continue to login to that account with Facebook. You can run the lost password feature on it to reset that. I know you said you're trying to login with Facebook here and still getting the error, but I guess you activated the wrong button and entered the login details to ocPortal instead (I know you've said Facebook's stuff isn't very accessible).

Regarding posting to Facebook wall, a "Syndicate this" option should appear on the news form. It should default to being checked though. If it's not there, it suggests somehow ocPortal doesn't think it is authenticated to post on Facebook. If it is there, all I can think off-hand is whether the inputted Facebook user ID is not correct or if somehow Facebook doesn't think that the app ocPortal connects to has rights over that Facebook user profile.

Thanks Chris.  I'm starting to believe all my issues with this add on is accessibility related.  I don't see a "Syndicate this" option on the news form.  There's a "Like" and "Send" button after I've posted the article and view it though.  It is just a little agravating is all.  Nothing you guys can do anything about though.  The add on worked so well back in V6 and then I remember FaceBook changing things around, which broke the add on for a while,  and I've just not had any luck with it since.  Shame really.  It sure was nice being able to post all our activity, news, and my upcoming shows etc. on our site and have it auto posted to FB.  Guess I'll just have to keep doing it separtely.  (Bummer)

Oh wait, I just realised -- you need the activities addon installed for syndication now.

Oh!  That's a relief.  I didn't see that any where.  Must have missed it some where along the way.  I'll try that.  My entire need of being able to interface with Facebook is really based around being able to post our site's content to our FB wall.  Having people being able to log in using their FB account is only convenience for users, mostly our kids and family, not me so much.  Thanks a lot.

So I was looking in http://huberresidents.org/adminzone/index.php?page=admin_addons&type=misc  found in Home   Admin Zone   Structure   Addons but there does not appear to be an activities addon in this location.

Look under the Addons listing. You will see a "Import non-bundled addon(s)" link. Then look in the "New features" under the "download" section.

Thanks much - found it.

I'm looking to do two Facebook related tasks:

1.  Allow people to "Login using Facebook".

2. Automatically post new content from my OCPortal website content to my Facebook page.

I see Facebook has the instructions for the first The Login Dialog - Facebook Developers  I'm wondering if there have been easy to install apps or instructions specifically developed for OCPortal?

I know Chipster posted a nice one recently, maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. Shouldn't be too difficult to find it using facebook and chipster as the search terms, which will bring up several pages of good posts.
