Does raising the number 500 in the FACEBOOK_FOOTER.tpl template (e.g. to 2500) fix it?

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I'm not sure what would cause this.

I see you're using Google Chrome, and the time thingy I mentioned in my above post was a workaround for Firefox (500 should have been enough even for Firefox though), Chrome always worked well. Recently the Facebook addon has been pretty stable on many sites (except for a recent Facebook change we had to patch against, but that's unrelated).

I couldn't find the URL to your site to test on, but if I were testing I would look in your browser's Error Console, to see if any Javascript errors show up.

Basically the login button calls some Facebook Javascript code, which initiates a login via Javascript and sets some cookies. Our Javascript tells ocPortal to then refresh the page, and the ocPortal PHP code sees the cookies, verifies them, creates the account (if not yet created) and establishes a session. It sounds like the refresh is not happening, which suggests that the Javascript is failing somewhere and hence the browser's error console would be where to look.

I would also check your Facebook app is configured with your proper site base URL.
