I'm trying to locate a way to list the upcoming events ála http://mirfieldrifle.co.uk/ocportal/index.php?page=news&type=misc&id=latest-upcoming-events&keep_has_js=1 is that an addon or part of ocPortal or  ???

Chris, I've seen your calendar.ini file (v 7 and v 8) which seems to indicate that's internal to ocPortal but I can't find it in the docs, a hand please.

I've really got to go looking for something that doesn't return a few million hits!!

It looks like that page you linked to was a manually created News page. And the events listed in that News page were also manually created News pages that were displayed using one of the blocks available to filter and display news content.

If you have the calendar addon installed, you should have a Calendar section in the Block Construction Assistant. When you are adding or editing content and pages, the editor on the page should have a button to allow you to add a block. That particular button opens the Block Construction Assistant popup. The Calendar section will have the side_calendar block which will allow you to add the calendar block to whatever page or content you are adding or editing. The calendar block will let you select between month and listing. The Month option will display what looks like a month on the calendar, like what you see in the right hand column on the page that you linked to. I believe the Listing option will just be a simple display of titles of upcoming events, where each title will be a link to the event in the calendar module.

I was afraid of that Jason.  Sure looks like it'd be a nice addon though.

I have the calendar, but would like a way to show the upcoming events without having to go into the calendar to do it.  An "Upcoming Events" page would really be nice!

Now to go have a look at the "Listing" you mention.
(( but first, I probably have to put something in the calendar, right? )) << er, that was facetious, not expecting an answer >>
