Hi,

Certainly it would be welcome if someone contributes the code. However I think it's unlikely unless sponsored or a few dozen people from the WBB community show a big interest in ocPortal – it's a few days work.

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I think the majority of ocPortal users are using OCF (the inbuilt forum). There is support for other forums but WBB is currently not supported. http://ocportal.com/docs/tut_nuances.htm

You (and others from the WBB community) might be able to change that, it is certainly doable.

There is actual e-commerce support in ocPortal, but I don't believe there is an eBay addon which works how you describe. There is an eBay listing addon though.

well, chirs, i think i can send you a WBB 3.x for a later use, when u have time, i can add the subdomain or somemthing to add into the license system of theres for dev, if WBB wont help out as its paying system i'm sure some one here can help out.

@King, yeah, i saw the plugin not sure if it some thing i like as the e-commerce was limit on few things and not sure if the person is still uodating it

I think what Chris was saying, is that for him to devote the time to making ocPortal compatible with WBB it would need more than 1 person to want that compatibility or for someone to be willing the pay the cost of the development. This is an Open Source project, and is completely free of charge. A lot (if not all) of the forums it offers support for are free of charge. ocPortal has its own perfectly decent forum, so I doubt this will become something that will even be considered unless there is a suitable demand. As Chris said, it is unlikely without sponsorship (and no new features are being looked at until v10 is out the door).

It can be done, but I think you need to think about doing it yourself or getting someone else to do it. It's not something that has been requested before now. Maybe you could install ocPortal without a forum and provide a link to your WBB. Might be easier to get WBB to share the login details than to try for a fuller integration if the link is not enough.

Well-settled

I used to use WBB but went over to Xenforo and purchased a license. I loved the look and feel of the WBB but it never gained popularity and took a extended amount of time to see bug fixes etc. I did notice that there were a few boards listed on install of ocP but the ocF forum has just about all you would need in a forum and if the layout is what is not to your liking have a go at editing it's look and feel.

Driven by imagination.
