Question about adding news from subsites

I am looking for a network CMS and OC portal seems to be the right thing.
I have only one question. I thought it's simplier than read all the tutorials and documentations and such.

If I have a general MMO gaming portal site and I want to make subsites for particular games, so I need a feature, where the sub-site admins can mark news to show up on the particular game site AND on the portal site. So if they write news about their games, which may be interesting for everybody, it is shown on the portal site AND on their site, but if they write specific news about their particular game, which may be interesting only for actual players of that particular game, it is shown up ONLY on their particular site.

Ist this possible with OC?

Thanks for replies in advance!

If I am reading it right that should be able to be done with ocportal.

I am a huge fan of ocPortal and after 4.0 comes out I will start making skins for it again.
My site is http://otakuplayground.com and I am using ocPortal. Need to work out the header but it should be done soon.

Thanks for reply!

I try to explain it a bit more clear: I have a portal site for MMORPGs, where I post news about World of Warcraft, EverQuest2, Warhammer Online etc.
I want to develop the site so, that there can be a World of Warcraft fansite in example, which uses an own URL and own skin, but is part of my system with same user database and same features, like the portal site.

The World of Warcraft site may have an own admin, who can post related news to World of Warcraft on that sub-site. If he posts news about raiding a dungeon at 8pm on ServerA, it may be useful news only to the readers of the WoW sub-site and it must not appear on the general portal site, because readers, who don't play WoW doesn't care about raiding. But if the WoW admin posts news about a new Expansion being available to the game, he may tag that news for being generally interesting, so it shows up on the general MMO portal site, because readers of general MMO news may be interested to know, there is a new expansion available for WoW.

When many game sub-site admins post general news (tagged to show up on the portal), it generates the content for the portal site, mixing up all news from different games (for example the above mentioned ones).

I hope it's more clear now. :)

Hi,

Each sub-site would be done as an ocPortal zone. Each zone's front page would have a news block, which would be set up to only show two news categories - the general category, and that zone's category.
When you add news you'd choose the categories you want :).

Was I helpful?
 - If not, please let us know how we can do better.
 - If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
